Peter Velits is a former 2-time Under-23 national time trial champion and a world road race champion. The Slovakian broke through in 2010, winning an individual time trial and finishing second overall in the Vuelta a Espana. Velits kicked off 2012 with an overall win at the Tour of Oman. Peter's twin brother Martin also rides for Omega-Pharma Quick-Step and is more of a classics specialist while Peter is climber/time trial specialist.
